TIVIMATE SETUP

Setting Up TiviMate for a Proper TV Guide Experience

TiviMate is built for the television rather than the phone, and its programme guide is the main reason people choose it. It runs on Android TV, Android boxes and Fire TV.

Before you start

  • An Android TV, Android box or Fire TV device — TiviMate does not run on iPhone or iPad
  • The activation details from your provider: server URL, username and password
  • A remote with a directional pad, which the interface is designed around

Step-by-step

  1. Install TiviMate

On Android TV install it from the Google Play Store. On Fire TV, install it with Downloader — see our Firestick guide.

  2. Start adding a playlist

Open TiviMate and choose Add playlist on the welcome screen.

  3. Pick Xtream Codes

Select Xtream Codes rather than M3U. This pulls in live channels, on-demand content and the guide together.

  4. Enter your details

Type the server URL, username and password from your activation message, then continue.

  5. Name the playlist

Give it a name you will recognise, which matters if you later add a second one.

  6. Wait for the channels and guide

TiviMate downloads the channel list and then the programme guide. The first run takes the longest; later launches are quick.

  7. Organise your channels

Open Settings → Playlists → Channel groups to hide categories you do not watch and reorder the rest, so the guide shows only what you care about.

Tips that save time

  • Hiding unused groups is the single biggest improvement you can make — the guide becomes much faster to navigate.
  • The free version handles one playlist. Multiple playlists, recording and some layout options need TiviMate Premium, which is a separate purchase from the developer.
  • Holding the back button returns you straight to the guide from anywhere in the app.

Questions about TiviMate

What is the difference between free and Premium?

The free version plays a single playlist with the full guide. Premium adds multiple playlists, recording, scheduled recordings and extra interface options. It is bought from the developer inside the app.

Does TiviMate work on iPhone or Apple TV?

No. TiviMate is Android only, which covers Android TV, Android boxes and Fire TV devices. On Apple hardware use a player from the App Store instead.

Can I record with TiviMate?

Recording is a Premium feature and needs somewhere to write the files, usually a USB drive or the device's internal storage.
